Prescott Public Library and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's STEM Outreach program are partnering to provide school-age children with an opportunity to learn about STEM with hands-on demonstrations and take-home STEM kits designed for kids in grades K-2. Join us at the Prescott Public Library to explore STEM and pick up your kits at the following events:
Thursday, June 22, 2-3 p.m. – Telescopes & the Sun
Learn about the special tools that scientists use to carefully and safely observe the "star" of our solar system... the Sun! Take home a STEM kit with supplies and instructions to make your very own telescope that actually works! (Prescott Public Library Lawn)
Thursday, June 27, 2-3 p.m. – Static Electricity
Experiment with static electricity and find out why space scientists need to detect it. Take home a STEM kit with supplies and instructions to build your own working electroscope — an instrument used to detect an electrical charge. (Prescott Public Library Founders Suite)
Also, don't forget to check out librarian-recommend books on related STEM topics.
