Embry-Riddle to Host 7th National Security & Intelligence Symposium

Educating Security and Intelligence Professionals for the 21st Century

ERAU Hosts NSI Symposium

Global Security Operations Center on Prescott Campus

The Global Security and Intelligence Studies Program at the Prescott campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) will conduct their Seventh National Security and Intelligence Symposium on Thursday and Friday, September 15-16, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each day. The theme will be "Developing Security and Intelligence Professionals for the 21st Century." This symposium will be held at the Davis Learning Center on the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus, 3700 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, AZ 86301. This event is free and open to the public. This year's event will also include an Educator's Workshop for invited high school teachers, counselors and students throughout the state to explain the growing need for well-educated security and intelligence professionals to protect our nation. This symposium is co-hosted by the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS International), to promote public understanding of these vital professions and recruit future students to these important fields of study.

Outstanding speakers from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Organization (ODNI), Federal Bureau of Investigations, the corporate security sector and ERAU's global security and Intelligence studies program will be participating. The speakers will focus on challenges in developing future security and intelligence professionals, the evolving threats to our national security and the use of leading edge technology such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to help counter the threat.

  • Combating the Diverse Southwest Border Threat
  • Legal Issues in Security & Intelligence Operations
  • The Criminal Gang and Terrorist Connection
  • The Evolving Terrorist Threat to the United States
  • Use and Protection of Classified material By Private Industry
  • Unmanned Aerial Systems applications in Security & Intelligence Operations

The symposium is open to security and intelligence professionals, law enforcement officers, the general public, college and high school students.

This event is sponsored by the Embry-Riddle's Global Security and Intelligence Studies (GSIS) department. The GSIS program is designed to develop security and intelligence professionals with broad knowledge in security, intelligence, emergency management, and global interrelationships in politics, economics, social thought and social change, culture, science and technology, military affairs, public health, and cyber-security.
