Embry-Riddle summer opportunities for high school students

Maybe you've been fascinated since childhood by the sky, or by planes, helicopters, and everything else that heads skyward. Maybe you've got a head for numbers and you're ready to design and build things, like robots. Or computers are among your best friends. Now you can explore these possibilities with other high school students like yourself and our top-notch faculty at Embry-Riddle, the best school in the world for aviation, aerospace and engineering education. Our facilities are available to rent for summer camp programs as well, contact our Events department for more information.

Computer Engineering Program

Would you like learn the fundamentals of building your own robots? Have you wondered how and why the Nintendo Wii System works? Among the concepts taught in this 6-day summer program you are how to build a machine vision system and hands on experience in programming concepts in C/C++. Get a taste of college life on our beautiful Prescott Campus while practicing for your future with others who share your interests. Aerospace Engineering Program

Learn how aerospace engineers make the most spectacular aircraft and space craft work. This 6-day intensive overview of the aerospace engineering program is designed to demonstrate fundamental concepts of engineering in a fun, hands-on environment. Each participant will learn the science of flight, how materials stress, strain, and break, and the principles of aerospace design. Students will be introduced to a variety of fields relating to aerospace engineering through daily classes and labs. Flight Exploration Program

Are you ready to take to the skies this summer? You can get your first real flight experience in this extensive introduction to the aviation industry. Participants receive ground training in our campus facilities, fly in our new C-172 Simulator, and pilot a C-172S aircraft. All flight training is conducted by certified university flight instructors. Participants in this program must be U.S. citizens ages 14-18. Flight Exploration participants receive:

Great American Aero Derby summer camp and competition

The Great American Aero Derby (GAAD) "hands on - brains on" camp and competition introduces students to the exciting world of aviation. Students build aircraft models and use them to compete for a variety of awards and prizes including thousands of dollars in Embry-Riddle tuition scholarships. The GAAD is open to students ages 10 to 18. In addition to learning about aviation and aerospace, campers will learn about career opportunities, tour the facilities and labs at Embry-Riddle, tour the accident investigation center, and fly in simulator training devices. Students also enjoy recreational activities throughout the week. Participants can chose to live on campus while participating in this fun and educational camp or commute to the camp each day.
