Sandy Palmer RN, ADN

Director Health Services

Sandra Palmer has been at Embry-Riddle since 1993. She is a registered nurse with a multitude of experience. She is a member of the ACHA, PCCHA, California Nurse Directors Association, ANA, Arizona Nurses Association and the American Heart Association where she received her certifications as a CPR and First-Aid Instructor/trainer.

Sarah Cosley M.A., NCC

Counselor

Sarah has a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently a nationally certified counselor, working on Arizona Licensure. While at the University of Northern Iowa she did a year long internship with the college counseling center. She has experience with a wide variety of student issues including roommate conflicts, homesickness, depression, anxiety and more severe diagnoses.

Christine Loughney RMA, EMT

Associate Director Health Services

Christine is a Registered Medical Assistant. She attended Kelsey Jenney University in San Diego. She has a multitude of experience in the medical field and has lived in the Prescott area since 2002.

Tammy Bott

Insurance Coordinator/Biller

Tammy is our Insurance Coordinator/Biller. Tammy studied Biology at the University of North Dakota with interest in the medical field. She has worked in various hospitals and physician's offices. Tammy has been a Prescott resident since 2003.

Tawnya's experience is in administrative and clinical support in a variety of medical settings.

Dr. Peter Powers

Medical Doctor

The powerful and inspiring story of Dr. Peter Lee Powers is testimony to the healing powers within each of us. Diagnosed with Diabetes at age 14, Peter still led a full and active life. He excelled as a student and athlete, attending medical school in Madison, Wisconsin. He has run over 30 marathons (thus far) and is an avid cross-country skier, cyclist, river rafter, kayaker and folk dancer. Today, Dr. Powers bears living proof to the reality of self healing. A world-renowned speaker, and a family and sports medicine physician, he is an inspiration to all he meets. In addition to a thriving practice in Prescott, Arizona, he travels the world speaking about his disease and the direct link which he discovered between healing and the mind.

Dr. Sam Downing

Medical Doctor

Dr. Downing received his BA in Chemistry from Colorado College in 1981. He received his MD from the University of Colorado in 1985. He is a Board Certified Family Practitioner, Certified by American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Physicians. He is Certified American Academy of HIV Medicine, and is a Board Member-Southwest Region, American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Downing practiced 10 years in private family practice in Prescott. Dr. Downing was elected the Man of the Year by the Prescott Area Leadership Group in 2009. He is the Medical Director YRMC Hospice and Home Care Services, the Medical Director Northland Cares HIV Clinic, the Medical Director of Prescott Valley Samaritan Center Nursing Home.

Dr. Kara Johnson

Medical Consultant

Dr. Kara Johnson earned her B.S. at NAU in Flagstaff and her medical degree from University of Arizona. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix where she developed a special interest in Women's Health.

Dr. Mitchell Gelber

Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Mitchell Gelber is a Psychologist Consultant at ERAU and is Board Certified as a Licensed Psychologist in Arizona. Dr. Gelber moved from Waltham, Maine to Prescott in 1986 where he opened his private practice. He completed his Doctorate at The University of Maine at Orono, Maine. He has worked extensively at the university level in New York, Maine and Arizona. Areas of specialty include: Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse, and Personal Trauma. He is available for off campus referrals and will accept most insurance benefits.

Dr. Sal Jordano

Chiropractor

Dr. Jordano was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and became interested in natural health care while studying Pre-Med. He received his B.S. from the State University of New York and took the opportunity to help establish a Western style education system in Tehran, Iran. In 1978 he returned to the United States. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 1982 and took a position in Michigan. One winter there inspired him to relocate to Arizona, where he has been in private practice since. His particular interests are based around the mind/body connections addressed by techniques such as Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST) and Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET). He enjoys working with the Embry Riddle community because of their motivation and dedication to goals. Wellness works with motivated people.

Sandi Powell

Certified Massage Therapist

Sandi Powell is a graduate of Southwest Institute of Healing Arts with specialties in Swedish, Myotherapy, Polarity, Cranial-Sacra, Reflexology and Lymphatic Drainage. She has ten years of experience in alternative healing techniques and awareness training, especially as it pertains to human energy systems, body movement and function.

Doug Pierson

CPR/1st Care Instructor

Doug Pierson started a career in Emergency Medicine 28 years ago. He has been an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid instructor for the past 10 years and is currently employed with Central Yavapai Fire District. He is a faculty member at Yavapai College, teaching in the Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science departments. Doug is an instructor for the Arizona State Fire School and has been helping ERAU with CPR classes for the past 5 years.

Dr. Spencer F. Schuenman DO

Orthopaedic surgeon

Dr. Schuenman is contracted with Health Services to provide prompt orthopaedic care to our students, staff and faculty. He is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with extensive training in treating advanced orthopaedic trauma. He also treats a vast array of sports-related injuries, and is the orthopaedic team physician for Arizona Sundogs and Bradshaw Mountain High School. Dr. Schuenman moved to Prescott Valley in 2004 to start his private practice; he merged with Northern Arizona Orthopaedics in 2007.

Jack Clevenger

DSS coordinator, Wellness Educator and Chapel Coordinator

Jack is a native of Arizona. His experience includes a position in Disability services in post secondary education for over 26 years. He received his Master's Degree in Education in Counseling with emphasis on Human Resources from NAU. He has a Bachelors degree is in Sociology from ASU. He also has a Master's degree in Christian Education from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee. He worked as Wellness Coordinator at Mesa Community College 8 years in Wellness Education as part of his 25 years there while as Program Advisor/Manager of Disability Resources and Services. Jack has been married to his for wife for 35 years. Jack has been recognized as 1 of 5 Outstanding Employees of the Year with the pool of over 5,000 employees in Maricopa Community Colleges. Jack leads a local chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of Prescott. Jack is a commissioner with the governor's Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
