Maintaining good health promotes a productive university experience. The Health Services staff is committed to facilitating students' wellness through direct care, education and assistance with lifestyle modification.
Services include assessment, prescriptive and nursing care, referrals, wellness education and counseling, women's health care, immunizations, medical grounding of flight students and assistance with aerospace medical concerns.
Students must satisfy the University's immunization requirements prior to enrollment or participate in campus-based immunization clinics. The Medical Report form supplied by University Admissions indicates the immunizations that students must document in order to register for courses and reside in University-managed housing.
Prospective flight students should be aware that certain sensory impairments, medical, neurobiological and psychological conditions and prescriptive medications might delay or preclude medical certification by the FAA. These issues should be discussed with an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) to ensure participation in flight instruction. Students may also contact the Health Services clinical staff for information regarding eligibility for medical certification.
Medical care is provided to staff, faculty, alumni and student spouses for a nominal fee.
Medical Flight Groundings

Flight students can be medically grounded by Health Services. Students must call or come into the office 30 minutes prior to the scheduled activity for an excuse. If the office is closed, a message can be left on the voice mail after hours and following the instructions. Students will not be scheduled for flight activities during the time of illness or injury. Once recovered the student must come into the office and sign in to be ungrounded and be able to resume flight activities.
No-Shows:
Students will receive a no-show slip in their boxes for any activity that is missed. The slip must be brought into Health Services, signed, and then turned in to the flight line petition box within 10 days of the missed activity.
FAA Medicals:
Flight Students must have second class medical. Flight Certificates should be sent to Training Managers. View the FAA website to find a list of providers for FAA exams.
