Computer Engineering Program

Are you a High School student that has an interest in robotics? Have you wondered how and why the Nintendo Wii System works? If so this six day program is the place for you to be in summer 2009! You will learn how to build a machine vision system, while getting hands on experience in programming concepts in C/C++. You will be engaged and challenged while getting a taste of college life on our beautiful Prescott Campus.

Computer engineering participants will learn/receive:

  • How to build a machine vision system
  • Hands-on experience in programming concepts in C/C++ for real-time applications
  • Classroom presentations and speakers on the latest technology in the world of aerospace systems

Aerospace Engineering Program

Are you a high school student with an interest in Aerospace Engineering? If so this program is for you! This is a six day intensive overview of the Aerospace Engineering program at the world-renowned Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott Campus. This program is designed to demonstrate fundamental concepts of engineering in a fun, hands-on environment. Each participant will learn the Science of Flight, how materials stress, strain, and break, and the principles of Aerospace Design. Students will be introduced to a variety of fields relating to Aerospace Engineering through daily classes and labs.

Aerospace engineering participants will learn/receive:

  • The opportunity to build and test your own balsa wood glider
  • A chance to put your knowledge to the test in the bridge design lab
  • Classroom presentations and speakers on the latest technology in the world of aerospace and experiences in the industry
  • An exciting experience - exposing each camp participant to a taste of college life and opportunities to ask knowledgeable faculty and staff about the university and the aerospace industry
  • A variety of recreational activities

Flight Exploration Program

Looking for an exhilarating experience? Do you have an interest in FLYING? Prescott Campus Summer Programs offers high school students (ages 14-18) an extensive introduction to the aviation industry. Participants will receive ground training in our campus facilities, have the opportunity to fly in our new C-172 Simulator and fly a C-172S aircraft from our new fleet, both of which have glass cockpits. All flight training is conducted by certified university flight instructors. Participants in this program must be U.S. citizens.

Flight exploration participants will receive:

  • 4 hours of Hands-On Flight Instruction *
  • 4 hours of In-Flight Observation Time *
  • 4 hours of Aviation Ground School *
  • 30 minutes of C-172/L-6 Simulator Time *
  • Classroom presentations and speakers on the latest technology in the world of aviation and experiences in the industry
  • An exciting experience - exposing each camp participant to a taste of college life and opportunities to ask knowledgeable faculty and staff about the university and the aviation industry
  • A variety of recreational activities

Foreign Language Institute

The Foreign Language Institute (FLI) provides opportunities for learners to learn Arabic, Chinese, or English as a second language (ESL). Summer language programs vary in lengths (1-8 weeks), languages (Arabic, Chinese, and ESL), and levels (high school, college, and adult learning). All programs are intensive with a variety of fun and language-related culture activities.

Great American Aero Derby

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Aero Racers, Inc. proudly present the 6th annual Great American Aero Derby (GAAD). The GAAD "hands on - brains on" camp and competition introduces students to the exciting world of aviation. Students build aircraft models and use them to compete for a variety of awards and prizes including thousands of dollars in Embry-Riddle tuition scholarships. The Great American Aero Derby Summer Camp is open to students ages 10 to 18. In addition to learning about aviation and aerospace, campers will learn about career opportunities, tour the facilities and labs at Embry-Riddle, tour the accident investigation center and fly in simulator training devices. Students also enjoy recreational activities throughout the week. Participants can chose to live on campus while participating in this fun and educational camp or commute to the camp each day.
