Industrial Hygiene Laboratory

In the Industrial Hygiene (IH) Lab, students learn to use IH equipment to monitor and evaluate human health exposures. The lab supports research on occupational health exposures to particulates, mold, volatile organic compounds, noise, vibration and mental fatigue. It also supports assessment of ventilation, respirator fit testing, basic human physiology and illumination.

Equipment

  • TSI SidePak AM520 (real-time particulate monitor)
  • ION Tiger Lite PID (real-time volatile organic compound monitor)
  • HNU PID 102 (real-time volatile organic compound monitor)
  • Seek Thermal Compact IR cameras (for mold surveys)
  • Extech Dual Moisture Meter MO260 (for mold surveys)
  • 3M Edge5 Noise Dosimeters (noise exposure assessment)
  • Quest Sound Level Meter (noise level meter)
  • Extech Sound Level Meters (noise level meters)
  • Svantek Human Vibration Meter SV 106 (vibration monitor)
  • SmartCap LifeBands (real-time mental fatigue monitors)
  • TSI Velocicalc Enemometer (air velocity and indoor air quality monitor)
  • Zephyr Bioharness 3 chest stras (heart rate, respiration rate, motion monitors)
  • Extech SDL400 light meters (illumination meters)
  • MIUFLY Body Camera (task analysis camera)
  • Dragon Touch sports camera (task analysis camera)
